Terms & Conditions

These terms govern purchases, repairs, trade-ins and use of the Device X Technology website. For how we handle your information, see our Privacy Policy.

1. Who we are

Device X Technology ("we", "us", "our") is a South African business that buys, sells, trades and repairs laptops, phones and related accessories. By using our website, placing an order, booking a repair or accepting a trade-in offer, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or our services.

2. Products and pricing

We work hard to keep product descriptions, images, specifications and prices accurate, but errors can happen. If a pricing or listing error affects your order, we will contact you before dispatch and you may confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund. Stock of refurbished and second-hand devices is limited to the units listed; adding an item to your cart does not reserve it.

3. Orders and payment

An order is accepted when we confirm it by email after successful payment. We accept card and EFT payments processed securely by Paystack in South African Rand (ZAR). We do not store your card details. We may decline or cancel orders that appear fraudulent, or where payment cannot be verified, and will refund any amount already paid.

4. Delivery and collection

Delivery times shown at checkout are estimates, not guarantees. Risk in the device passes to you on delivery; ownership passes once we have received full payment. If you choose collection, please bring your order confirmation and ID. Uncollected orders are held for 30 days, after which we may refund you minus a reasonable storage fee.

5. Returns and refunds

Under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, you may return a device bought online within 7 days of delivery, unused and in its original condition and packaging. Refunds are made to the original payment method within 10 business days of us receiving and inspecting the returned item. Change-of-mind returns may incur a return courier fee. This does not limit your statutory rights under the Consumer Protection Act for defective goods, which remain fully intact.

6. Warranty

Refurbished and second-hand devices carry a limited hardware warranty as stated on the product page, covering defects in materials and our workmanship. The warranty does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, unauthorised repairs, software issues, consumables such as battery wear beyond the stated health, or cosmetic wear described at the time of sale. Warranty repairs are assessed by our technicians; if a fault is covered we repair or replace the device, or refund you where repair or replacement is not possible.

7. Repairs

Diagnostics are free and you will always receive a written quote before chargeable work begins. Quoted prices are fixed once you approve them; additional work requires your approval first. You are responsible for backing up your data before handing a device in; we are not liable for data loss during repair. Devices not collected within 60 days of completion notice may be sold to recover repair and storage costs, with any surplus returned to you.

8. Selling or trading in your device

Offers made on trade-in or sell requests are provisional until we physically inspect the device. If its condition differs from your description we will make a revised offer, which you may accept or decline; declined devices are returned or made available for collection. By selling a device to us you confirm you are the legal owner, the device is not stolen, blacklisted or under a credit or contract agreement, and you have removed all accounts, locks and personal data.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the website: no attempts to breach security, scrape pricing at scale, submit false information, or interfere with other customers. Accounts involved in abuse or fraud may be suspended.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under South African law. Otherwise, our total liability to you for any claim relating to an order or repair is limited to the amount you paid for that order or repair. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or lost data.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Disputes fall under the jurisdiction of South African courts, without limiting your right to approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission.

12. Changes and contact

We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page applies to orders and bookings made after its publication. Questions about these terms: email info@devicex.co.za, call +27 83 402 9125 or WhatsApp +27 61 545 6695. Last updated: August 2026.
